Thank you for your lovely message and for making Manon's first ballet class such a positive experience. I thought your approach to teaching the girls was excellent. You timed the different exercises perfectly and the variety was also spot-on. I'm not sure that Manon has ever been as pleased as she was this morning when she wore her first fairy wings & wand! I have been looking forward to seeing Manon start ballet lessons since she was born. I could not have asked for a better first lesson. We are both looking forward to next week.
I would like to thank everyone who made yesterday (Sunday 15th November 2015) special for Emily and each of us who came to support her. Also we want to thank each and everyone who made her feel less scared she says and to all who worked so hard to make it all happen, especially Anthea, Alicia and Kerrin. She had an amazing time and showed off her programme to her school today. What an amazing experience for a 6 year old to have under her belt.
Very proud familiy members xxxxx
Hi Alicia and Anthea, Well where do I start?? ...... What an absolutely amazing show you put on. I wish I had the words to let you know exactly what we thought but nothing comes close. The work you have put in with all your pupils really shined through. It was just out of this world. The time you have spent, the commitment they have all shown and the costs involved where worth every single penny and more. It was such a pleasure to have an opportunity to see exactly what you do and we couldn't be more proud. Thanks isn't enough but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything you do and enabling us to share something special with you all. I personally feel you have worked wonders with Holly. The difference on stage was fantastic. She has loved every second since joining up and yesterday lived up to her expectations, more so. It's something we'll all hold close to our hearts forever. Thank you sooo much. We look forward to seeing you Saturday. Faye xxxxxx
I joined the Anthea M King School of Dancing on my 7th birthday in 1989, and stayed with the school until I went away to University in 2001. Over my years as a pupil in Mrs King's classes, I was fortunate to take part in many performances at local events and theatres in the area, and I was taught not only dance, but also discipline and self-confidence - a huge achievement for the shy 7-year-old who started at the school. I always loved my weekly classes, and the friends I made in dancing.
I returned home from University in 2004, and although I did not return to regular classes, I was still welcomed back to the school to help out backstage at the school productions, or at the annual Medal Tests - always a big day in the dancing school calendar and a joy to be a part of, even in a small way. I have seen the school grow a lot since 1989, and particularly in recent years. I have been honoured to be asked to join the school as a Chaperone on numerous trips from Barry to London, to dance at professional theatres such as Sadler's Wells, the Royal Albert Hall and Her Majesty's Theatre. In June 2014 the school took to the London Palladium stage, and I felt very proud to be with a group of such talented, well-behaved dancers who all appreciated the fantastic experience that being a member of the dancing school had given them, and the hard work of their teachers.
Mrs King also somehow finds the time to hold additional events for the pupils, alongside their regular classes, and it is lovely to see the children arrive excitedly at the hall for Hallowe'en parties, Easter Bonnet parades and workshops. In July 2014, the pupils of the dancing school also put on a dance display for residents of a local nursing home, with transport for the residents organised by the school, and the residents had a wonderful time. I am proud to continue my association with the dancing school where I had so much fun and learned so much. I now work at my local theatre, and know that my love of the arts was nurtured and encouraged by Mrs King, and being a pupil at her dancing school, and I feel that there could be no better school to win the title of Dance School of the Year, as she continues to inspire her pupils today.
I have 2 girls aged 23 and 19 who have both attended The Anthea King School of Dancing since they were 2½ years old. Anthea has not only taught them all aspects of Ballet, Tap, Modern Contemporary Dance but also the importance of commitment to the Dancing School. Anthea King School of Dancing have provided our chidren with wonderful opportunities. My girls have not only danced twice a year in a Pantomime and Summer Show at The Memorial Hall in Barry but also in London at The Palladium, Sadlers Wells, Her Majesty's Theatre, The Royal Albert Hall and the Fantasy Theatre in Disneyland Paris. Anthea King is respected and loved by all her pupils and parents alike. She will always make time to offer good advice or have a chat and my girls are very lucky to have her as a lifelong friend.
